Pregnancy Massage | Sydney
First and foremost, congratulations on becoming a mother!
At Sydney Body Envy we know that whilst pregnancy is a special and exciting time it comes with physical, emotional, and mental stress.
Over the last decade, we've developed gentle and supportive techniques to relieve pregnancy's most common discomforts, so that your happiest time doesn't become your most uncomfortable.
Pregnancy massages not only help with stress, they also enhances mother-baby connection: improving sleep; regulating hormones; controlling blood pressure, all resulting in a healthy environment for your newborn.
Are pregnancy massages safe?
The short answer: yes, receiving a massage whilst pregnant is most likely safe. That being said, we always recommend consulting your doctor beforehand.
We also recommend waiting until after the first trimester to avoid any chance of you feeling nauseous or dizzy.
In Australia, regulation dictates that pregnant mothers lay on their side whilst enjoying a pregnancy massage, and at Sydney Body Envy we strictly adhere to this.

What can I expect from my pregnancy massage?
As we do before all our other massages, we'll run through your general health and lifestyle to allow us to make an assessment and identify specific aches or areas of the body that are especially sore.
During your pregnancy massage your comfort is paramount to us, and we'll supply additional pillows for you to use at your discretion. During your pregnancy massage with us we'll ask that you lie on your side: this is to avoid the discomfort of lying on your stomach for prolonged periods as well as avoid the potential threat of excessive pressure on major bloody vessels from lying on your back.

Effleurage: these long, smooth gliding strokes - often used at the start and end of a Swedish massage session - do more than just relax you. They're warming the muscles up and allowing the therapist to identify areas that might need special attention whilst distributing the oil evenly over your body and helping to promote a meditative state to boost the massage's benefits.
