Is a remedial massage right for me?
The main purpose of remedial message therapy is to treat and prevent specific soft tissue injuries which may include muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Compared to other treatments, remedial massage is a much more targeted treatment based on a thorough assessment of your needs. With this in mind, Sydney Body Envy always encourages any clients to contact us before any remedial booking so we can cover any key requirements or concerns they may have. We're available to help and share our expertise 7 days a week via phone or email.

What can I expect from my remedial massage?
First and foremost, remedial massage services require a thorough assessment of your current physical condition so that the therapy is as beneficial and safe as possible. This assessment ensure that the pain you're experiencing is treated comprehensively and not made worse by the incorrect application of massage techniques.
With Sydney Body Envy's vast experience, we'll ensure your next remedial massage brings only positive side-effects.

Remedial Massage Techniques:
-
Effleurage: these long, smooth gliding strokes - often used at the start and end of a Swedish massage session - do more than just relax you. They're warming the muscles up and allowing the therapist to identify areas that might need special attention whilst distributing the oil evenly over your body and helping to promote a meditative state to boost the massage's benefits.
-
Petrissage: this particular technique encompasses kneading, squeezing and rolling movements that work deeper in your muscles. The systematic action of petrissage encourages movement of metabolic waste products and congested muscles areas. This technique will often focus on areas of the body where tension builds up more readily and restore the muscles' regular texture.
-
Trigger point: by identifying trigger points in specific areas of the body, knuckles, thumbs, or elbows are used to deliver concentrated pressure to the tissue underneath. Whilst it's not uncommon for discomfort to be felt during certain stages, once the pressure is released, relief can be felt immediately.
-
Tapotment: the use of rhythmic percussion such as tapping, cupping, hacking and gentle pounding creates a stimulating effect that wakes up muscles, boosts circulation and stimulates nerve activity. It's a dynamic element of Swedish massage that, done correctly, can energise without causing discomfort or irritation.
-
Friction: otherwise known as, cross-fibre massaging, goes 'against the grain' of your muscle fibres to break up knots, release adhesion and allow muscles to realign in a healthy manner. Friction can be more uncomfortable than other techniques, so Sydney Body Envy ensures they work with every client to find the best solution.
-
Vibration: rapid, oscillating movements created by the hands and fingers promote deep relaxation and stress relief. Critically, vibration can release residual tension that remains after other techniques have been applied. It's not uncommon for therapists to use specialised tools to perform vibration techniques to support your specific therapeutic goals.
